How it Works

FLYING ABOVE WATER

The Oceanflight control system comprises three essential components:

sensing, computing and actuation.

SENSING

SUPERIOR UNDERSTANDING OF THE SITUATION

All together gives us a concrete & fast understanding of the environment

° RTK GPS and Inertial Measurement Unit with ultra-fast tightly coupled
sensor-fusion algorithms for precise attitude, heading and position measurements

° Multiple sensors enabling flying height and wave height detection

° Short- and mid-range obstacle avoidance sensors, over and under water

COMPUTING & COMMUNICATION

REDUNDANCY, SPEED AND OPTIMIZED DATA HANDLING

Oceanflight’s Central Control Unit (CCU) serves as both a flight controller
and a central communication hub for the entire boat

° Redundant and proven flight control stack, based on 15 years of drone experience

° Fully redundant high speed FDCAN-network between all Oceanflight components

° Save and flexible interface of diverse maritime standard components:
Control motors, thrusters, helm stations, anchors, etc with ease

° Embedded high level Linux-based compute for non-critical tasks,
exhaustive logging, data analysis and remote support via a state-of-the- art encrypted cloud link

ACTUATION

HIGHLY DYNAMIC AND PRECISE MOVEMENT

Oceanflight’s actuators are purposely designed for foiling boats and
deliver a smooth ride in combination with the flight control system.

° Actuator and flap dynamics define control authority and bandwidth.

° Multiple sizes available.

° Designed for reliability, easy integration and maintenance.
