The Oceanflight team consists of four founders who are passionate water sports and aviation enthusiasts, deeply connected to surfing, sailing, and flying. Their first venture together was a drone company that influenced and revolutionized the modern drone industry over the past 15 years and amazed billions of people with drone shows at prominent global events such as the Superbowl and the Olympics.

The new journey builds on their knowledge and passion and takes it onto a new level impacting sea travel and enhancing sustainability and comfort. DELIVERING SUCCESS

  1. Prototyping Model

    As kick-off for the cooperation between Oceanflight and Tyde, a radio-controlled prototype of THE ICON was developed. This scaled model, measuring 1.9 meters in length and weighing 35 kilograms, is a 1:7 scale representation of the final design. The prototype was put to the test in a series of trials conducted at a lake near Munich. The model's performance successfully showcased the potential of THE ICON.

  2. Full Scale Prototype

    Next step in the cooperation with Tyde was to equip a full-scale 14 meter long 10-ton prototype of THE ICON in Portoroz, Slovenia with a foil control system. This full-scale test boat was subjected to extensive on-water testing, offering invaluable insights to enhance its systems.

  3. Kai Concepts Partnership

    Oceanflight partnered with San Francisco based Kai Concepts to transform a catamaran used as a hydrofoil technology demonstrator from all mechanical to electronic stabilization. The result of this collaboration is a testimonial to the potential of hydrofoil technology and reinforces Oceanflight's continued dedication to transforming maritime experiences.

  4. ICON Launch

    TYDE and BMW proudly revealed THE ICON, controlled by Oceanflight’s foil control components, in Cannes, France, during the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. This impressive 14 meter 10-ton hydrofoil boat is the result of a shared vision to reshape the maritime landscape.

What you bring: 

  • Degree in electrical & information technology or a comparable field of study 
  • Experience in developing & testing electronic circuits 
  • Experience in C/C++ (or comparable) and microcontroller programming 
  • Experience in python and Linux preferred 
  • Experience with power electronics components and systems preferred 
  • Experience in programming and working with bus systems preferred 
  • Self-reliant and structured way of working 
  • Affinity for water sports
  • Enthusiasm for practical development
